About Mrs. Amin
A little about myself. I am originally from Washington, DC/Maryland area. I am married and have three adult children, four grand children, two rescue dogs, a pet bearded dragon, and a pet rabbit. Yes! When we all gather as a family our home can get very busy. I love reading, journaling, arts and crafts, crocheting, and knitting scarves, afghans, and blankets. I have been a vegetarian for the majority of my adult life, and have been a vegan for a few years. I enjoy eating healthy foods, green smoothies, nuts, trail mix, and often treat myself to a good piece of dark chocolate.
My husband and I are Veterans of the Armed Forces, United States Marine Corps. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Sociology and a Minor in Child and Family Development. I also have my Master's Certification in Birth-Kindergarten from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. I am currently a graduate student at UNCC working towards earning my M.Ed in Reading Education.
I have been teaching for 21 years. This will be my 14th year teaching at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
This is a very exciting time in your child’s life. Kindergarten is a time when children are learning about themselves and others as they explore, discover and learn many things in their new environment. The success of your child in kindergarten is vital. I am passionate and committed about teaching young children, and preparing them to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens in the 21st Century. Open communication is the key to a successful school year. I will always strive to achieve a healthy home-school relationship. Your involvement, interest, and enthusiasm will help make this a wonderful year of growth for your child!
